The Homestead had seen a lot of ideas over the years.
Some of them were good. Most of them involved Mortgage Lifter standing in a field at five in the morning, making a decision that nobody else would understand until three seasons later, when it turned out he was right. A few of them — the ones that arrived from the direction of the barn — involved Box Car Willie, and those tended to be the kind of ideas that required either a fire extinguisher or a good lawyer, depending on the day.
